Musical differences in relationships.

I love classic rock, I also like some heavy metal, blues, classical, film scores, folk music, and alternative rock as well. I even like some post rock/ambient music. Classic rock is my favorite though. I used to want a girlfriend/wife that liked classic rock like me but now I kind of want someone that likes different music than me, so that way I won't get sick of my favorite music. I just want her to respect my taste and I will respect hers. Do any of you have a significant other with similar or different taste in music than you?

Had, to an extent, before both up and died on me. My wife of 43 years were more or less similar in our eclectic musical tastes, although she was a classical-trained piano player and had an appreciation for the classics that I have never been to get into. My partner of 10 years after becoming a widower the first time was not only primarily a country/western aficionado, her former brother-in-law had been a CMA award winning Country musician. So I developed a deeper appreciation of Classic Country. But that is what marriage, and all partnerships/committed relationships, should be: complementary to each other, not duplicative copies.

@Bugbittinbrain Right. You both become better, more complete persons.
