Not in my case. We both talk openly about our lives before we met. That includes relationships and that includes exes. We don't see it like we're missing our exes but no point in denying that they shaped us and are a part of our life history.

That triggers a lot of red flags. You're not over your ex, you're bragging about them, they were better in X, and so on.

Now, if you're having a deep conversation about something uncomfortable (abuse and the like), bringing your ex up that one time is fine.
