Is it weird if your spouse isn't your best friend?

My hubby and I are best friends, and started out that way 35 years ago. We've had our fair share of breaks and serious problems but we've managed to get through them by learning to improve our communication.

I think if your spouse is your best friend then your marriage has a good chance of surviving till natural death.

But weird?
Yes, it is - in the sense of not normal.
Since 2 out of 3 marriages end in divorce, it's fair to say that failure is the norm.

@hartfire I don't feel the need to start off as friends, and quite frankly I don't really have the patience for it lol.
@WendyLopez43 Hmm.
Fair enough.
We create whatever we most need.

@hartfire I did try dating a friend in highschool who I had known since elementary but the problem is I didn't feel we had chemistry as a romantic couple. Not that I didn't try to feel that spark but I just didn't.
