The wife (before she became the wife, of course) was visiting in the area to help a friend from college move. As it happened, the wife's friend was married to a friend of mine from college. The eventual wife, who had been divorced by around five years by then, wanted her friend to introduce her to any single guys she knew, and I was the only single guy she could think of. The eventual wife got my phone number and called me out of the blue, asking if we could go to dinner and she could pick my brain about the area, as she was considering moving here. So, we met up for dinner and such, and the wife's friend and my friend came along, mostly so the wife's friend could tell me humiliating stories about the wife in college. After dinner, we dumped them, drove around, found someplace to get a drink, had a conversation, then went back to the friends' house and talked for most of the night. We were married six months later.
