Which bf is the most sincere ?

So, my 2 friends asked their bf's for an engagement ring...

Freind number 1 bf got her a promise ring instead.

Friend number 2 bf told her that he doesn't believe in that kind of stuff. "it's just a piece of paper and if someone wants to be with you, they're going to be with you paper are not"

I think all four are standing on weak grounds.

Any type of commitment is fragile if you have to ask for it. It is either given naturally or meaningless. These girls asked to be offered that chance so they put themselves in positions requiring passiveness.

I will never ask a person to get me an engagement ring.

If that's the sort of relationship I believe in, I will get them the ring instead and propose and they can refuse.

And their refusal would be extra information giving me the chance to decide whatever I need in a relationship, stay or walk out.

Not that I believe in marriage either.
