Why does it seem like relationships don’t last long anymore?

Let’s say a couple that’s been married for 40+ years decided to divorce. I don’t understand why. I knew a couple that’s been together for 50 years and six months after their 50th wedding anniversary, they divorced. What the hell?

For one, the stigma on divorce has been decreased so it's easier to part ways when things don't work out instead of pretending everything is peachy. And life has become a lot faster, people are changing at a higher rate and therefore may grow apart sooner.
