Animals don't mind age gap in relationship then why human do?

My grandpa was 21 years older than my grandma. He died a decade before her. I think what turns me off is spending my golden years alone. I know you can die at any time but if your s/o is a lot older than you, it just increases those chances.

As long as they're legal and consent I don't care about age gaps but ever since humans in the western world have FINALLY recognized that pedophilia is wrong or that it even happens and that we shouldn't be marrying off 13 year old girls, then any kind of age gap seems to create rage and controversy.
