Does your ex still pop up in your head sometimes?

I believe I have completely moved on from her, like completely. I'm seeing someone new and she makes me so happy, and we'll become official soon. However I still feel like I have some leftover "damage" from my relationship with my ex. Like, to some extent I'm still emotionally guarded. That, and hearing about my ex (we're on the same alumni group chat for where we did our Masters degrees and sometimes she still posts there) makes me feel a little irritated.

@saragoodtimes There's a story that was told about a little old lady who was distantly related to me by marriage. I can't remember who the man was who had died or what her connection was to him but there must have been lots of bad blood. The story goes that she showed up at the funeral home much to everyone's surprise, walked up to the casket and had a look, then turned around and walked out while saying something to the effect she just wanted to be sure he was really dead.

They contributed hugely in shaping who you are. There is no backing out of that, and if you try then you are denying yourself from knowing more and even the betterment of yourself.
By being irritated by her postings in your group, that just shows you have not matured.
Get being proud and happy she was a good step in your life but don't worry, you have a lot more steps that'll provide you with a lot more happiness throughout life.

I have to deal with mine because of parenting of our 4 y/o daughter. My other ex (mum to my adult kids) usually contacts me if stuff crops up about them, but otherwise she's married now so of nil interest to me. I'd love to have a wonderful romantic partner but I'm happy to stay single rather than settle for someone that's not suitable.

Yes, but the trauma bond I had formed was really strong and has been tough to work through. For a long time every day was a deliberate choice not to go back and engage with the toxicity. Now it's more of an effortless choice but reminders of him are all around still.

Well, an ex at some point was a very important part of my life and even though they're not there it is natural to remember them from time to time. Especially when something reminds me of them. It all feels normal and natural to me.
You can't forget someone you lived your marital life with, even if for few days.

Lessons stay, so does the pricks. Live with them, thank them eternally, coz they helped you be stronger.

No. But my but crush, yes. I dreamed about them few days ago. Dunno why. Maybe I feel sad because it was my unrequited love.

@SW-User would you like to see your ex throwing up?? 🍝
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
No not really. Not unless someone mentions them or somebody has a passing resemblance.
SW-User

@SW-User My last ex (mum of my 4 y/o) is the most hated person in my life but because she's a narcissistic control freak princess I refuse to play her games and it gets her so irate! That's a big win for me. My first ex (mum of my adult kids) is not really a friend, but I'm over all that shit.
