Always single

jim44444 · 70-79, M Best Comment
I do not classify my childhood/teen years with parents as single.
Since I went from that to married at 18 then I have never been single in 71 years.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@jim44444 wow!
That’s terrific to hear. It’s not often you hear of people being together for so many years. All the best to you both! 💕
jim44444 · 70-79, M
@REMsleep I would not recommend my approach. I believe we just got lucky. Any number of times over the years we could have called it quits but either we were too stubborn to give up or too lazy to make the effort to start over.
jim44444 · 70-79, M
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
You can be part of a couple and be alone so I'd would say I have been more single than together with anyone since my teens. I would like that to change but time is ticking at this point.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@ravenwind43 Thank you, your words are encouraging ☺️
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@ravenwind43 I have faith…things will work out exactly as they’re supposed to. (I know that may sound trite but I do believe it to be the truth!)
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
@ImpeccablyImperfect it's not at all trite if that's how you feel:)
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
43 of my 63 years of life I’ve been married. I wouldn’t want it any other way 💕
Lilymoon · F
There's a certain "comfort" to being attached. And I'm not knocking it, but every once in a while I wonder what life in the fast lane would be all about. 😁
But honestly there's pros and cons to everything.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Lilymoon Completely agree…I do sometimes wonder if I’d enjoy living alone for a while…the only person to worry about is myself 🤔
chrisCA · M
@ImpeccablyImperfect I hate cleaning up after other people. 😅
Lilymoon · F
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Attached. I wouldn’t mind being on my own as I really like my own space and doing my own thing when I want to.
Celt43 · 46-50, M
@Keepitsimple im the same .
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@Celt43 👍. I hate when people tell me I would be lost or lonely and how it’s nice to have somebody. I’m really ok being on my own. I don’t need somebody around to make me happy.
Celt43 · 46-50, M
@Keepitsimple i understand exactly where youre coming from, i love my own company and wouldnt find living on my own one bit lonely
I've spent my entire life single. Even when I was with someone.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@PhoenixPhail awww I think being alone when you’re attached would be even tougher ☹️ I’m sorry
@ImpeccablyImperfect Thank you. And I'm doing okay. I DO sometimes feel lonely in a crowd. I'm trying to get better.
Carissimi · F
I’d rather feel lonely by myself than in a crowd. That feels much worse to me. @PhoenixPhail
summersong · F
Attached. As much as I hate being lonely I’m probably happier when I’m single tbh
More single, but I'm only 42.
Torsten · 36-40, M
yeah more time single. Have only ever been miserable in relationships. Being singe suits me much better
Torsten · 36-40, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect nah it honestly isn't a priority in my life right now. I was engaged and had a child. We split when he was 2 years old and I have never wanted him to have to deal with random people that i may be dating in and out of his life not while he is a kid anyway and living with me.
I have had intimate nights and whatever with people but no real relationship for a fair while because my son is my only priority.
When he gets older and doing his own thing, Things might change and I will be more open to another relationship. Who knows.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Torsten That is a very admirable mindset. Kudos to you! 😊
Torsten · 36-40, M
Umm, been single most of my life. No longer want anyone in my life as no one interests me now nor wants me as well, S0 basically content to stay alone within my own little cubby hole until my very Last Day here 🥴 (after she passed on in 2000) ugh
I’d say 50/50 for me. I’m glad to have the experiences and adventures I had as a single person before I adjusted to a life being part of a couple.

What I meant with adventures was NOT irresponsible no-commitment lifestyle. It was more of having the freedom to make choices with my life or career without consideration for another person’s schedule. I had been lucky to experience being relocated at diff cities/countries for work. It was easy because I was single at that time.

In that whole experience, I discovered “me”.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@CookieCrumbs best answer. 😉
@Ambroseguy80
It was more of an adjustment to travel with the husband during the first few years. I was so used to planning everything for myself. 😄
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@CookieCrumbs of course
Wallflow3r · 26-30, F
Your smile looks very warm and friendly! 💛 I myself have been in relationships more then being single which I wished it was the other way around. I’ve found myself to be quite dependent emotionally and financially on people I’ve dated which I think isn’t the best. ☹️
@Wallflow3r You can always make adjustments in that.
Wallflow3r · 26-30, F
I am happy, but I feel very dependent on my S/O and feel I should be more independent but it’s so nice being taken care of at the same time.@PhoenixPhail
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Wallflow3r I hear you….it’s hard not to become dependent in some ways, when relationships are designed so that you CAN lean on/depend on a person. (And thank you for the compliment!) 💕
Reflection2 · 36-40, M
I have been single as long as I have lived
Fluffybull · F
That's a really interesting question. I've spent about a third of my life as a single person. I do need a lot of "alone time" and often prefer going some places by myself. Especially roadtrips and holidays.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Fluffybull wow! I am envious….I can’t even walk into a pub or a bar by myself! I like my own company well enough, but for me that means at home, in the peace and quiet haha
Fluffybull · F
@ImpeccablyImperfect I'm an introvert. As a child I enjoyed getting the bus on my own to our nearest big town and going shopping and visiting a museum and having something to eat in a cafe 👏😆
chrisCA · M
More single.
Noble · 56-60, M
Definitely more time in my life has been in a relationship.

Although I appreciate spending time alone, I like that it can be accomplished while still in a relationship.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Single, I don't know how would it be if I was in a relationship so it's hard to say if I'd change anything if I could. If it was an ideal relationship then sure, why not?
I am in my 60's. I didn't settle down until I had a kid at 33 and then married shortly thereafter. So...about 1/2 my life.

I wouldn't change a thing....mostly because I feel I needed the time between graduating from HS and my mid 30's to be wild and crazy and get it out of my system. I just wanted to party and have fun.

Most who knew me then don't recognize me (as the same person). Today, I actually enjoy working and feel that most people see me as a wise and mellow older dude.....Kinda like "Been there, done that".

LOL
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
I was single for thirty years, so more than half my life was unattached.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
Wow that’s a long time to stay single 😳 @Ambroseguy80
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect Tell me about it! 😄
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Same here I was half of a couple for over forty years.

It's hard to say if I would change it because one change would probably cause many others. If I hadn't met my wife then some of the decisions we made in the 1970s and 1980s would surely have been very different. Perhaps I never would have had the opportunity to move to another country because that opportunity came about as a direct result of the geographical locations of our two families. Then my career would have been different.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
I didn't get married until I was 40, so I had a long period of single adulthood. Sometimes I miss it, TBH.
SW-User
I’ve only been in flings throughout my life and it’s pretty much all I know.. I get attached they move on.. etc etc
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I have spent almost twice as many years married as I was single. No I would not change it if I had the opportunity.
Im at 14 yrs in a relationship, 11 years without a relationship since 18.
Lostpoet · M
I've never been in a relationship that lasted more than six months.
TexChik · F
I was single till I was 22 , been married 18 years .

Significant others bring balance in to your life
Me too.... 🤗🌹
@Soossie You're very fortunate.
@PhoenixPhail

I was blessed to have those good people in my life... 🤗🤗
@Soossie Yes. Having good people in your life is one of the greatest blessings. 🤗 🥰
Kae20 · 56-60, FVIP
Me too Ive spent nearly all of my life attached .

Single for a year at 25 , then single for 3 months at 34.

Now in my 50's I had been single for a year. Then met who I know is the only man I will love until the end.

I guess some women were just never meant to be live without love. Its a gift 🎁
Single, unattached, uncommitted. There’s a song that fits me so well, albeit from 1965 , a tune by Jr.,Walker and the All stars, titled, “Roadrunner “ and is not confined to any one period in time.
Collegegirl23 · 26-30, F
I was single most of my life or in a long distance relationship now I am not single anymore but in a real relationship I cannot imagine going back to single life again never again
GBPackersFan · 41-45, M
I had girlfriends quite frequently up until like 40 then the relationship thing started getting old. I’ve been single for like 5 years now minus a couple of casual hookups lol
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Attached, I would chance it as it was an unhealthy codependent relationship for many years that's been incredibly difficult to dissolve in a healthy manner.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Starcrossed yesss, my 20 year marriage was also not healthy…it takes many years to overcome some things 😣I wish you happiness, whatever that looks like for you!

My total relationship time would be approximately 3 years 🤔

Mostly alone with some scattered situation-ships lol…

Single, tho I was married 20 years. I don't miss the drama.
Carissimi · F
About half and half, if I don’t count childhood and teenage years.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Almost 48 of my 69 years have been married.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Spent most of my life married to 2 women
pdockal · 56-60, M
So is that good or bad ?????
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@pdockal I’d say it was good for me. I prefer to be in a (good, healthy) relationship
pdockal · 56-60, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect glad you are in one which is better than most people
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Starting at age 18: Definitely more time single.
SW-User
Both at the same time , complicated attachments.
Repete · 61-69, M
Yes and no I think. As far as being married , way more single person but if I add being a single parent raising my daughter. It’s about half the time being a single person.
If that makes any sense please explain it to me.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Repete hehe I’m sorry but I’m having trouble following that one…please ‘repete’ ?? 😉
Repete · 61-69, M
Is there an echo in here?@ImpeccablyImperfect
