Would you marry someone who couldn't afford anything but a small rinky dink apartment?

Thank goodness, my wife did. I was in grad school and could barely afford any kind of living space. Love conquers all!

@exexec I’ve lived in this city most of my life and have heard of young women marrying a student and working one or two jobs to pay the bills thinking when their husband graduates they will be able to have a nice home and a more comfortable life, only for the man to divorce shortly after graduation. Usually it was men who were studying to be lawyers or doctors but other majors too. The last one I heard about was a rather simple woman who was married to student who got a degree in social work, he filed for divorce within a month of graduation. Some women are doing this too, a woman also majoring in social work did the same thing, she lived on campus and her husband supported her for 4 years paying the bills while she went to school and he was a farmer. She filed for divorce within a month. So risky to enter into a marriage like this. Glad yours was for love.

@cherokeepatti We had been dating for almost 8 years, and she knew I was totally devoted to her. Very little risk, if any, for us.

@exexec One of the neighbor girls that was a year younger than me met a student right out high school & started dating him. She was working as a data entry processing job and he had just started college to major in accounting. That same year they married and lived on her income and whatever student aid HE got. Eventually she got a bank job & bought a modest home, she made the payments etc. When it came time for him to graduate he announced that he was going to law school. He also told her he didn’t want to have children. By that time she was burnt out supporting him and divorced him, later marrying someone else and starting a family. I was happy for her to have made a quick decision because law school was have dragged it out several more years.
