I can’t read with all that noise

When I was a kid, the whole world would disappear once I started reading. Noise around me didn’t matter. Nowadays, people talking throws me off. I have to reread the same sentence over and over before finally conceding. I’ll have to save the book for when people are less lively. That’s okay. I swear kids don’t know they have superpowers till they grow up and lose them.

My own brain throws me off and makes me reread over and over sometimes..
@AuRevoir That would make getting through a story impossible. 😵‍💫

@Colonelmustardseed 👀🥤 true enough.. I’m a very slow reader sometimes because of it.. like the more I like the story, the slower I go..

The less important the thing I’m reading I am actually more likely to get through it all fairly quickly..
@AuRevoir Trying to get the boring material over with, huh? That’s a useful skill, though.

@Colonelmustardseed not always necessarily boring just not important enough to me.. 🤔 I only dedicate more thoroughness to what truly matters to me..
@AuRevoir And going slower helps you get the details better?

@Colonelmustardseed pretty much.. immersion.. absorption of all the nuance and foreshadowing etc..
