I can’t read with all that noise

When I was a kid, the whole world would disappear once I started reading. Noise around me didn’t matter. Nowadays, people talking throws me off. I have to reread the same sentence over and over before finally conceding. I’ll have to save the book for when people are less lively. That’s okay. I swear kids don’t know they have superpowers till they grow up and lose them.

When I was a kid, I always thought I had superman powers when I got towel fixed backwards tied to my neck. And when I had to be He-Man from He-Man and the Master of the Universe, I would buy a Sword and would wear tight undergarments and lo, HeMan was there to save all the neighbours.
@TheOrionbeltseeker Imagination is another superpower they have. My creativity is gone.

@Colonelmustardseed It will be back. I am sure. Infact even Your username is testimony to your creativity.

My own brain throws me off and makes me reread over and over sometimes..

@Colonelmustardseed not always necessarily boring just not important enough to me.. 🤔 I only dedicate more thoroughness to what truly matters to me..
@AuRevoir And going slower helps you get the details better?

@Colonelmustardseed pretty much.. immersion.. absorption of all the nuance and foreshadowing etc..
I put on my headphones
@Ozymandiaz I’m worried someone might need something but I won’t hear them. 😬
@Colonelmustardseed If they need something that is their problem :p
