I Like to Read

My mom says I read too much. I read The Outsiders once a week. Like, I'm not joking. I've read it once a week since I've got it in August. It's such a classic. But I read all sorts of books. It's just nice to be sucked into worlds beyond belief, love other people's lives. You're not you anymore and it's just great.

Here's a recommendation for a novel about youth and growing up and teen romance. It's a comic novel about a middle class boy in a small Indiana town in about 1910. Because the copyright expired, it's free to read online.

Seventeen
by Booth Tarkington

Bear in mind that at that point in history, the age of seventeen was what today would be about thirteen.

Also, if you enjoy fantasy and science fiction, read some of the short stories of Harlan Ellison:

"I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream"

"'Repent, Harlequin,' Said the Ticktockman"
