Do you ever use the Little Free Library in your community?

You know, where you leave a book and take a book, for free?

I got a few, including one from an author that is new to me, that I am liking.

Sometimes people even leave canned goods in them.

I cheated a little bit. I put 2 books in and got 3 out. It was full enough 🤫🤪

In the area of town where I currently live they'd get stolen.

@NativePortlander1970 @NativePortlander1970 no reason to steal what is already free
@iamnikki They don't care if it's free or not, if it's not bolted down, or alarmed, they'll take it. I put out a couch to the curb last November for city trash pick up, within five minutes someone took it, while I was still on the phone with the city trash coordinator, when I told him two guys took it he just laughed.

@NativePortlander1970 lol, well, it was going to the landfill anyway right?
@iamnikki They most likely probably put it in their front or back yard for their dogs.

@NativePortlander1970 I didn’t think criminals would steal books. But anyway they can keep them as long as they want if they want them that bad. It’s books we no longer need or want.

@NativePortlander1970 Curbside furniture is freebies here. Anyone can take it.
@cherokeepatti If they can get even a buck for them they'd steal anything.

@NativePortlander1970 If I stick something out on the curb I don’t care if they sell it or use it or give it someone they know. It’s not on my curb any longer. I wouldn’t want curbside furniture…bedbugs these days.

@NativePortlander1970 Sounds like a win all round - the sofa is reused rather than being sent to landfill, municipality is spared the expense of disposal -although it would have been courteous to have asked you first.
@SunshineGirl There's a common mentality in the US, once it hits the curb it's garbage, therefore free to take, it's a headache for people that are moving in or out of homes, thieves use that mentality to steal, despite the presence of moving vans or trucks, they even go inside the vehicles to get what they want.

@NativePortlander1970 There was a burglary ring that hit one residential area and I don’t know how many homes here about 14 years ago. They would bring a moving truck and break in and clean the houses out while the residents were at work… furniture, electronics, furnishings, jewelry, gun, tools, patio furniture, grills, etc. The neighbors would watch and say they didn’t know they were moving. Would find out it was a burglary after their neighbors came home. I heard this at a yard sale with the people talking about it. Now so many have security cams and can check on their homes while they are at work or on vacation.
