What are some of your favorite novel to screen movies or books?

Thought they did a nice job with Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie adaptations for television.

Weirdly - the first book "Alien" the movie did a great job interpreting the book....More Recently: Where the Crawdads Sing, Hamnet and Incredibly Bright Creatures

The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, The Lord of the Rings all spring to mind. In terms of plays, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Streetcar Named Desire, Prince and the Showgirl; just off the top of my head :)

I loved Winona Ryder!! Godard's Le Mepris was based a novel by Alberto Moravio, I never read it though, Contempt in English it changed how I perceived others while being around them, I may be still reeling from it these 21 years later.

I read japanese light novels and enjoyed the Emminence in Shadows anime adaption. Re:zero had its moments.

I read a lot of books and have not enjoyed their adaptions so it's difficult.
