After I read thru all of Jane Austen's books, I started searching for other authors who write like Jane. But there are none!! Nobody writes with her combination of sharp wit, affection for, and humor in - her various self-important minor characters and the misapprehensions of her major characters. Nobody does that mixture as well as Jane!
@hunkalove Nope. As a person she lived a humble life and selflessly gave her time to family members. As a writer she published under a pen name. She was moderately successful, but remained anonymous. Her name didn't go on her books until after her death (untimely at age 41), and it took a few decades for the books to become popular and widely read.
@hunkalove The Brontes that I read didn't appeal to me; too earnest, kinda religious. I (physics major) didn't read Jane for class, I read her for amusement, and she's quite amusing!
