KDP Paperback

Wow - I decided to offer one of my ebooks as a paperback on Amazon - what a performance!
It took ALL DAY fiddling around with image sizes and adjusting the text. And then, when I finally got it right I discovered that for every paperback I sell for £5.99 I'll pocket £1.63 - just not worth it.

That's more than you'd make from a traditionally published book, and a traditional publisher will give you about the same amount of support to promote your book as KDP does.

@DunningKruger I have to be honest, once I worked it all out it was fairly quick and simple to do the other books and it can't hurt to have them offered as paperbacks for the few who want them. They take a lot longer "In Review" than ebooks tend to.

@TheLush As in any endeavor, you have to decide where to put your resources, and when self-publishing, your time is your primary resource. So, best of luck to you.

And Amazon takes the rest?
TheLush · 26-30, F
@hunkaloveI did all the design an the cover art - it's me on the cover !
TheLush · 26-30, F
@mindless I get 70% of the cover price of an ebook.

My late brother published a novel through Amazon. I have no idea how much he made but he died 2yrs ago and they still have his book on sale.

H pi we much were you expecting to receive per book sold?
TheLush · 26-30, F
@justanothername I had no idea but it does seem greedy of Jeff and co seeing as via my own website I can sell via PayPal and only lose THREE per cent of the cover price.

@TheLush You have less overheads and zero market share compared to Amazon.

Also you could get big returns overnight if your book got rave reviews and ended up on a top 10 recommendation list.
what's the ROR with a kindle book?
TheLush · 26-30, F
@stound Sorry, I don't know what ROR stands for...

@TheLush Return on Retail.

@justanothername I don't know, but they used to make authors wait 2 months before paying them because of returns. I think someone challenged them on that and won but I don't know the details.
