KDP Paperback

Wow - I decided to offer one of my ebooks as a paperback on Amazon - what a performance!
It took ALL DAY fiddling around with image sizes and adjusting the text. And then, when I finally got it right I discovered that for every paperback I sell for £5.99 I'll pocket £1.63 - just not worth it.

And Amazon takes the rest?
TheLush · 31-35, F
@mindless Yes, I get sixty per cent of the cover price less the printing and shipping costs.

@TheLush it seems a decent deal, but I assume they are making money on the printing and logistics too

@TheLush The idea with selling on Amazon is that you can sell large volumes.

To give you an indicative comparison, artists with songs on Spotify get paid .000000002c per streamed track so you need to have millions and millions of tracks stresmed in order to be able to afford to buy a cup of coffee.

@justanothername that's the platform long tail for you...

Bout I hope you are not only writing just for the money

@TheLush A real publisher pays 5%.

mindless · M
@hunkalove so how much do you get for a sold E-Book?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@mindless Of course, they pay for the design and cover art and printing and paper.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@mindless Same? I don't know.
TheLush · 31-35, F
@hunkaloveI did all the design an the cover art - it's me on the cover !
TheLush · 31-35, F
@mindless I get 70% of the cover price of an ebook.
mindless · M
@TheLush that sounds more interesting
