I Read Pet Semetary & Loved It

It was honestly an amazing book. I know the movie is pretty popular, but I don't think enough people give the book credit in my personal opinion. About to read The Black Phone at the moment, which is a short story by Stephen Kings son which has a recent movie adaptation of the same name. Any King fans out there? If so, let me know what your favorite book by him is.

Stephen King is amazing.

So many - The Tommyknockers is so out there without being really gross or graphic and with Firestarter and Dead Zone you felt like you were living it - not to mention the Gunslinger series and The Stand...Pet Semetary was also a great one, but darker Favorite? Hmm...Nov 22, 1963 great also...I dunno...

The one thing for sure, is that you know things will never be the same for the characters in any of his novels.

@fun4us2b Personally the original Dead Zone film was the best King adaptation, but damn... The Mist took it to a whole new level. I also appreciate that King himself said that fim's ending was better than what he wrote.
I read the book, saw the movie. Book was far more intense.

Probably a standard answer but the Shining is my favorite, couldn't put it down. Salem's Lot is also good, and Bag of Bones is one I read back in 2008 if you're looking for more books that are really good by him.

Pet Semetary is a great book! I love Stephen King and have read most of his books. The movies don't do him justice.

Just noticed you mentioned Joe Hill - I read his books NOS4A2 and Horns - he's crazy like his dad!

Also @Stereoguy ran into him at breakfast a few months ago....(haven't seen him lately, hope he's OK)

I was never a fan of the movies but I did enjoy the book. Perhaps because my imagination can produce more nightmarish imagery than what can be put on film.

He can certainly tell a story. Read a few of his. I actually found Pet Semetary disturbing.

@SW-User I found it very disturbing as well. It had a sense of dread. Especially since I saw the movie first, and I already knew what was coming.

@Saucylover I tend to avoid books/films/tv that involve young children - kidnapped, murdered, dying, whatever.
