Though neither are mundane as such, sanguine holds a special place in my heart for meaning both hopeful or bloody, depending on context. I’m also a fan of defenestrate...because at some point “throwing things, and/or people, out a window” was apparently too many words.

@SW-User oh, defenestrate is so cool, thanks, never heard of that one. Because there are actually many occasions when I would like to defenestrate someone :D
SW-User
I think we all have those occasions 😆@sumojumo

@SW-User that is why we need to investigate words like this
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I love thinking about etymology. It's always fun with Slavic words. You change a suffix and suddenly it sounds really funny. xD

krasno might also mean beautiful, but brace yourself ;), najlepši mean the most beautiful, and I think in Slovak is "the best"? And I believe there are tons of these lying around :)
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@sumojumo 😱 Yes, it means the best. That's so strange for me! 😅
What about užasny? xD It means wonderful here.

Omg, someone is messing up with us. In Croatian užasno means horrible. This looks like someone shuffled the meaning of words and is now rolling on the floor when two Slavic people meet and try to make sense of words... This could be a nice David Lynch series ;).
Onomatopoeia is my favorite. Some runners up are 'sesquipedalian' and 'ethereal' ....Flibbertigibbet is nice one too.
I just thought in retrospect, that these are not "mundane" sounding words though, so I'll have to think about that.

Maybe. I like it, because it suggests potential in one's favor
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@SW-User I like that you view it like this. Before I saw it more weak, like indecisiveness.
SW-User
@sumojumo I did too.

sumojumo · 36-40, M
@Picklebobble2 Any special reason? Or you just like the sounds?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@sumojumo Cornucopia has five syllables which is fairly unusual for such a short word. It almost 'sounds' 'plentiful' as you say it.
Auspicious has an unusual sound to it. Similar to suspicious but with almost a totally opposite meaning.
Clobbered just because it's almost never used these days. In fact it's origin is said to be from World War 2 but it's unclear where from.
