How do you pronounce February?

My office got into an argument on the proper way to say February. Half of us, myself included, pronounce the first 'r' the other half say that's wrong and the first 'r' is dropped. I know both ways are acceptable. How do you say it?

If an r follows a consonant without a vowel and is then followed by a vowel, - that consonant is then silent.

In correct usage to pronounce the first 'r' would require an a, e, or y to precede it.

The purpose then is to signal the vowel's full sonic inflection as Yew, rather than oo.

So then people that mispronounce the first r are verbally incorrect and therefore, displaying their ignorance of how American Language functions.

In other words, don't correct them. Just smile knowingly and wait to learn all their other stupidity. It's fun.
