Is, simply is. To proscribe any bad fortune in my life to some boogeyman is an attempt to gather some air of 'control'. A belief that someone or something is in control, malevolent or otherwise is far easier to accept for some, than the thought that nothing is truly in control of destiny and that life, existence, simply is.
