I Have Random Thoughts

DirecTv tells us you can do all sorts of stuff on the website and not have to call the 800 number. Then you try to do something as simple as change from STARS and Showtime to HBO and Cinemax. The website itself tells you you have to call the 800 number.

Why? Why would they require you to call them to do something as simple as change your premium package? You get some guy from Bangalore trying to sell you additional programming you don't want. At least I'm pretty sure that's what he was trying to do. I don't speak Hindi.

Does this make them more money somehow? Are people more likely to sign up for crap when they don't really know what they're signing up for? God forbid it can all be laid out on a screen for you; you have to struggle to try to understand a guy speaking a different language.

In order to give them a reaction on your part, you need to threaten them by leaving. See if you can shop around. If offered a package deal, ask if you might remove the Sports Channels to lower your bill.
(I for one hate boxing.) They will jump hoops to keep you a customer. ALSO if a member quits and calls in a complaint, that person that was negligent in responding to your problem may even loose their job.
KNOW if you pay for a service you are responsible for what is on there.
Feign ignorance. Have them send you paper work on what is available and what channels can be removed. Don't PAY services for what you don't have!
