I couldn’t sleep.

Restless. Finally drifted off, and woke at 3 a.m. to thunder rolling over the house.
It made me smile.

I laid there listening to the storm and slept more peacefully than I have in a long time.

There’s something about thunder that feels protective instead of like. Idk. chaos. Like the world is loud so you don’t have to be. Like the storm is doing the emotional release for you.

Funny how sometimes it’s the noise
that quiets you.

Pouring rain on a tin roof is one if my favorite calming sounds, day or night.

We have an automatic retracting awning that covers our deck by the pool. Even in daylight, it’s awesome to sit under it during a downpour. If lightning comes, we just hit the button to retract it and go inside.
@Adogslife hearing the rain on my roof made it worthwhile putting in that metal roof
