The sci-fi & fantasy writer, Orson Scott Card, coined the term "heartfire" for use in his "Alvin Maker" series.
In these novels, one character is a "torch" who can see into the heartfires of others -- seeing their most private thoughts and feelings and their futures, if they choose this course of action or some other. She also sees their pain and what inhibits them.
I thought the term "heartfire" could apply to any conscious being and so chose it for its anonymity.
