Doordash wasted 1 million on trying to defeat Zohran Mamdani in the NY run for mayor

Imagine that 1 million going to better wages instead of politics. No matter, Mamdani is in the lead. Turns out, bribery doesn't work. Haha losers. In NY, app delivery drivers now have one of the most dangerous jobs in the city delivering billion dollars worth of goods every week and I can attest to that. To make any money you gotta be fast 🏃‍♂ 💯 or otherwise you won't earn that cash. Not to mention people pets in the yard which could pose a danger, having to watch your back from getting robbed for goods, dangerous areas, having to hike all the goods up flights of stairs, the people that don't tip. It's a hazardous job.

Shame on door dash and I'm glad they just pointlessly wasted 1 million dollars, good.

Mamdani had received the approval of Los Deliveristas Unidos, a group organizing the some 65,000 app-based delivery workers who “transport billions of dollars of goods each year yet do not benefit from minimum wage or workplace safety protections because they are classified as independent contractors,” according to their website.

In addition to advocating for the minimum wage to increase to $30 per hour by 2030, another one of Mamdani’s campaign promises was to regulate delivery apps: “Traveling around the city at breakneck speeds, app-based delivery workers now hold the most dangerous job in NYC. Despite the immense risks these workers face every day, deliveristas — 80,000 Black, brown, and immigrant workers — are exploited by the app companies who demand they complete deliveries at a dangerous pace,” Mamdani stated as part of his platform.

Don't ask for what you wish for....people are already stressed and with increased prices and longer waits, people will go get it themselves - leaving those he wants to help with no work....I'm not 100% sure of this - but it seems like the truth is somewhere in the middle...

This industry has exploded since COVID and I am more worried about getting hit by a bicycle than by a car anymore....
