I have random thoughts.

Imagine if the human race was divided up into compatible groups, and scattered through the galaxy. A million planets, with around 8000 people on each ... giving us all the small town styled life we clearly need, without the mass casualties that would otherwise be required to achieve it.

Starting again, but with greater knowledge and skills. The people and tools required to get it going, and then being left to it. Room to roam and explore. Dark skies, abundance, and peace. Simplicity and purpose. A future without fear, where everyone is equal and needed.

Tbh that would be the way it needs to go.
Compatibility groups would work as the bond would keep growing therefore giving more energy to live freely.

@bookerdana It's not only that risk but also the tyranny of the majority that you have to worry about. One of the great, but as yet incomplete, achievements of modern society is the protection of minorities.
