Do you think animals have better or worse lives, living in a zoo?

Assuming they're well taken care of. They can have an extended life expectancy, have no worries for food, predators or survival.

But they aren't really free, are they? I haven't been to a zoo in ages but I always used to wonder if they were happy living in captivity

It depends on a lot of things, not all zoos are good or even great..

Living naturally in the wild can also be extremely dangerous and stressful even for wild animals

@SW-User yes, but do you really think if you could ask animals where they would rather live, they'd say " locked up in a cage"?

@SW-User many factors worth thinking about.

Almost every comment posted, I agree with on some level. Yet many of them contradict each other

@melissa001 Sometimes I consider if it would be a good choice for myself (it wouldn't! I'm just being extreme)

Imagine though, a homeless bum committing a crime in order to land himself a spot in jail. Where at least he has a roof over his head.

@melissa001 they would not, but when it's done in a way to protect and preserve their own kind for the future I understand

Example, pandas

@caPnAhab yes, but he would have made that decision for himself. We make all the decisions for animals. Just doesn't seem right to me.

@SW-User wouldn't it be better to lock up the humans who made them nearly extinct in the first place. I doubt if the pandas give shit if they go extinct. People are the problem.

@melissa001 Touché. That's true
