I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings

Education only goes so far...Natalie Portman says it better than I do, something along the lines of, "I hate studying, but I love learning." I feel that education certainly expands your mind and gives you boundless opportunities, but I wish schools could teach you more things about life...life lessons that schools rarely teach you, which you can actually apply to life, not more numbers to solve and quantify (sorry mathematicians!)

The best way to teach formal subjects is to relate them to real life.
Mathematics and the sciences in particular can be fairly dry subjects if taught in a totally textbook, non creative way.
Didnt we all feel that in high school ?
Practical maths might be more interesting this way !

Absolutely, but English, art, and history are my fav subjects in school; not just because they involve creativity and story telling, but I feel I can apply most of it to real life :)
I agree that more attention to matters of practical value are needed at the high school and university level. I find it appalling that young folks can't balance a checkbook or cook for themselves. Why was the decision made to eliminate Home Economics from the secondary school curriculum? How is the young generation expected to fend for itself when the old generation has passed on?

Math can teach you plenty! It can teach you logic & reasoning, or different ways to understand the world. Math just takes a lot of work

Oh, I know...sorry, math has never been my fav subject, so I'm biased! I just wish school could teach you more life lessons per se...
