I believed the US government and media would never distribute pure propaganda. I thought only the USSR did that. Ooops

That it was only kids who could be cruel and nasty and people became nicer when they grew up. 🙄

That adults know what they're doing

That there were a few good people in government who believed in preserving freedom and the US middle class.

That logic, common sense and self-preservation trumped leftist propaganda. That US citizens would fight for freedom and defend the US Constitution.

My parents mentioned I could go into drafting. For some reason I thought it meant I would be selecting people to go into the military. I kept thinking "why would I want to draft people, and what does that have to do with art"?

Everything you were taught in school and heard on the news was the truth.
Adults knew everything.

That there is a God who cares about you.

That adults can be trusted.

That life was fun

Not COMPLETELY, but depressingly often: The American dream of equal justice and opportunity for all.

That I could controll the weather using my breath and mind.

That slavery was a step to freedom for us.

The world is a nice place.
