My son moved into his dorm room last Sunday.

His university is 75 minutes away without traffic. I did really well and wasn’t too emotional until I got home and read his text message, “I miss you guys” - then I started crying.

We text every day, and I’ve spoken to him a few times already. He has made some good friends there that he trusts and feels comfortable with, so that eases my mind.

I miss my Babi. I’m not sure I can wait until Thanksgiving to see him again. ❤️
My daughter just accepted a scholarship to a University (For September 2023)… it’s a 2 hour flight from home. I already have anxiety. We’ll be flying out to see her or flying her home as much as possible.

Awww!! Dont worry.... congrats... 👏👏🌹🤗

Very transformative experience. I attended my 40th college reunion in June and reconnected with several people from my freshman dorm corridor. We’ve known each other since 8/27/78, the day we moved in! Here are four of us of the 20 people who shared the corridor.

@RedBaron Oh cool 😊

@RedBaron Fantastic four 😄
Been there for the last 4 yrs and youngest has 5 semesters left.

Adjusting now to oldest being out on his own after graduation, working in his field of study and doing things like getting engaged.

@Stillwaiting Awww good job dad. I still have my daughter here for another 3 years.
@marsbar Make the most of that time .. it went by too fast for us
Freeranger · M
Another eaglet leaves the nest on it's solo first flight. So, on a financial basis, this must reduce the end of the month financial ticker tape?
marsbar · F
@Freeranger Living in a dorm is more expensive than him living at home.
Freeranger · M
@marsbar Hah.....been there on my G.I. Bill....
But.....it's not always about the financial aspect of leaving home is it. It truly does need to happen.
marsbar · F
Teslin · M
That's cool. I'm glad you are providing some sense of "security" for him.
But hopefully not too much.
Or is he providing some for you 🤗
marsbar · F
@Teslin He’ll figure things out. I’m just glad that he has friends there who are looking out for him.
Teslin · M
@marsbar Both mine were pretty outgoing so they made friends quickly.
Sounds like he will be fine.
marsbar · F
@Teslin Yes :)
Dan has been away at school for a month now and I really miss him. growing up is hard on Moms. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it.

The kids going off to school is tough especially the first. I can feel that pain. My daughter lives in WI and normally comes to visit 9 days in the summer. I am like you...ok...until she walks into the terminal. This year I get to see her 3 times. Once in April for 5 days...June was her normal 9 days and in October for 4 days. She barely left in June and was planning this next trip.
Could he take the bus...like Greyhound home?
marsbar · F
@PTCdresser57 Train would be easier. Need to figure that out.

I’m sure you miss her like mad. ☺️

You can wait.... This is the best part of kids growing up.... them using your long learned lessons as raising them to become adults....

I learned that WE have 2 options ... be a productive citizen or a suck on society .. LoL

Congrats :-) wooo hooo for you
marsbar · F
@black4white Thanks 🙂

It was your mother who loved you before you were born - who carried you for a long months close to her heart and in the fullest of time took God's hand in hers and passed through the valley of shadows to give you life. It was she who cared for you during the helpless years of infancy and scarcely less dependent years of childhood. As you have grown less dependent, she has done the countless, thoughtful, trouble-healing, helpful and encouraging things which somehow only mothers seem to know how to do. You may have accepted these attentions more of less as matters of course and perhaps without conscious gratitude or any expressions of your appreciation. You are rapidly approaching the time in life when you will be entirely independent of your mother. The ties which dependency has bound you to her may be served as you grow older, but the tie of mother-love can never be broken.

🌹
marsbar · F
@SW-User Thank you ☺️

@SW-User Meals are SERVED. Ties are SEVERED.
