Have any else wondered why people pressing that stupid but so many times at a stop light would make the light change fast... do you not know that every intersection is timed.

I get this with lifts/elevators. Like they think somewhere there's a dude actually controlling them lazily until they hit it for a forth time and that snaps him into action and puts the lift into turbo mode or something.
