Wrap up - January 19 [I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings]
As the sky begins to illuminate, i pause here to reflect on a night of viewings and some impressions.
The night began with 1988's The Blob, a beautiful special effects delight, there is a lot of extras to furnish other nights viewing for this one, but initially here just the movie.
Then Critters 2, and i was so pleased with this one, it made me feel like embracing mainstream action sorts of stuff more, to even consider getting those sorts on Blu-ray is a mental shift. The thing i have that it made me want to experience in this new to me format is the original Star Wars trilogy which i sampled about a month ago, and it does look spectacular. So i could be doing that in the near future.
And then i gravitated to my latest favorite movie Black Christmas on disc 2 with tons of extras and a 2006 unrestored version of the movie, and then another featurette that originally came with an older DVD release. I just love this movie and it's stature in horror cinema, i love seeing material that appreciates it, and this first re-watch was a pure delight. An SCTV actress in it, and the voice work of the prank caller is so creepy, it attracts my morbid sense of interest.
There is an irony that i mused on tonight, it is that considering what sorts of movies horror movies are, the fans of them, are some of the nicest people there is. I hear that often in these interviews of the cast when they talk about meeting the fans at conventions. You could say that i'm a fan of the fans of horror.
