Today I also found out that butterflies were around on Earth 70 million years before flowers. I wonder what they ate?

Butterflies have a probosis for entry into the flowers and get the pollen stuck on the wet sticky surface ,,,,They are pollen grain eaters and need the flowers to provide them food.They are basically worms with no mouth or teeth or digestive systems
