I Have Random Thoughts

How important is for you to feel productive? I feel that on some days posting here a couple of things, which are likely to be read just by a few friends, is the only productive thing I do in the whole day. And it makes me feel guilty.

I know there is no reason for this feeling. Being productive is something ingrained in most of us, in many cases as the contrary of being selfish.

If I had children, I doubt I would have this feeling. Everything you do for your children is productive. Maybe that's the reason why people have children?

I think most people have children because they want to have children and because they give meaning to your life.

I wonder about this too sometimes. But some people are more driven and productive than others. As long as I do good work and read at least a few pages - or a chapter or two - of a good book, then I am happy.

@Mugin16 Reading a good book is building yourself, which is a good thing.

Being productive today means making something than can be exchanged for money in our society, not even something useful. And society is a too broad word.

Perhaps what I miss is doing something for my community. But even that is hard to do today away from institutions that have an agenda behind.

@Cierzo Community should be your neighbours and your fellow inhabitants of your village or town. Meeting them and eating together and helping each other out - all these things help the community.
