I woke up on the first day of second grade and couldn't move my head. It turned out to be a viral abscess on my windpipe.

@ScrewThisImDone Oh what happened then?

I had to stay in the hospital that entire week, had to be put under twice so they could drain it. They said it kept healing from the outside in, basically sealing in the infection. Then I had to have the stent in my arm for another month or so, and had to have meds injected into it once or twice a day, I can't remember which.
I'm pretty sure I was allergic to the tape they used to help keep it in place and protect the stitches, I was always itching the spot like crazy when the nurse came to our house to change everything out every week. I also still remember how it felt when I finally got the thing taken out, I was so freaked I just sat there staring at it the whole time. Ugh...
The doctor stuck his finger down my throat when my mom first took me in to get it diagnosed, after we'd already been stuck waiting in the office for about three hours (I ended up needing a blanket because it was so cold in there, and then I fell asleep). I was ready to bite his finger off when he finally pulled it out. Then of course his assistant just had to push on the roof of my mouth to figure out what it was.

@ScrewThisImDone Oh you've been through a lot. And you're brave. I'm glad you survived.

Oh that’s not even half of what happened that year, trust me...
