I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings

So if you have had the chance to read some of my posts or comments here on SW. You may have notice that I am fond of numbers, math and physics. However, now I would like to talk about size, or rather distance. Which some viewers might be wondering, but it is non-adult! Then what can you be talking about then?! (Sorry, my humor have never been the best). Nevertheless, according to the study (#1) the global average is about 5000 steps daily for a person to walk in a day. That is around 3.75 km. Which I assume most people will agree is not that great a distance.
Some here on SW may even have the pleasure (for other pain, sorry here comes the bad humor again) to had run a marathon (which originate from the legend of Philippides, who has said to run from Marathon to Athen after a battle). The modern Marathon is at a distance of 42 km.
Now again some people may say that is not that far either (I am just gonna be taken my car #Easy). Well what about Benoit Lecomte who was the first (recorded atleast, and probably also the first) to swim across the Atlantic Ocean, which makes it a distance of 5980 km. Now unless the gas prices are super cheap! then that is not a road trip you just gonna make every day! (Well unless you really like to drive I suppose). The funny part about that distance, is that it comes awful close to another great distance which is the earths radius, which is approximated to be 6371 km. So it is just 391 km less from swimming to the core of the earth (Sorry it sadly not possible to achive that, well not in a swimsuit anyway).

Now there might be some people who starts to say that is a long distance. Perhaps there is a pilot reading this saying pff! It is nothing. Well then lets look at the diameter of earth, which is estimated to have the avarge on 12742 km.

Now maybe even the pilot starts to say okay it is a bit far. But then hey! maybe we ask an astronaut who have been on the space station and he says that it orbits earth approximately 16 times. Which is a distance of 203,872 km.

But some readers may have looked at the distance the global avarge person walks. Then saying well the currently avarage age people reach today is 79 years. There are approxmatly 365.25 day in a year so.
365.25*79 = 28,854.75 which means that the global avarge person walks 108,205.3125 km

That is the same as walking around the earth 8 times. so approximatly two peopes life equal the same distance covered as the spacestation does in a day. (next time could perhaps be fun to do a loose calculation of who have been most time around the earth, human or the spacestation).

now this post is a bout to be a bit long, I have enjoyed writing and I could keep on going. Nevertheless, the distance to the sun is in avarge around 1 AU, where as 1 AU = 149,597,871 km. Where as the ex-planet (now dwarf planet) pluto has a distance from the sun that is; 143.73 billion km (avarage) imagen looking at the earth from that distance. Well if you even can spot it?

Now imagen how small it is, but how much it means. It is our home. It is my home, and it is also yours. If we can not get along on this small tiny object. Well then are we not jut a bit childish and silly?

Anyways. I have to go cook now! Cause I am getting hungry! If you have have read so far. Then thank you for reading this, best of wishes and good day/evning!

Regards

Something I have never understood. Philippides died after warning Athens, so who exactly decided that they should turn that into a race?
AllAboutTheFacts · 31-35, M
@SW-User that is a rather good question. They must have seen it as a noble thing. But to who exactly said it. Is Hard to say.
Good question though!

Regards.
Sorry for my relative slow reply.

👍 How long did it take him to swim the Atlantic?
AllAboutTheFacts · 31-35, M
@FCNantes 73 days, with 8 hours spent swimming each day in sessions of about two to four hours in length. So he Was in the water 584 hours in total.
Thanks for your respond best wishes.

Thank you for the facts.

@FCNantes You are most welcome. Thanks for asking the question.

Best of wishes.

Interesting. Meanwhile the Earth's population is skyrocketing. If we don't learn to share and look after our planet...well, you know...
