I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings

My state has pretty lax gun-laws. We're allowed to have full-capacity magazines, addons with relevant permits, and it takes less than five minutes to walk in and walk out of a gun store if you know what you want. That's how it went when I bought a pistol for the first time. Most of the time's waiting for them to confirm over-phone that you don't have any felonies.

I'd been given a gift of a fancy 1911 that I found excessively flashy. The two things I did appreciate about it were the shorter-than-usual (slightly) barrel length and the sights-- they glew. I forget the name for them.

Maybe I should've just traded it in when I bought my own. Might have covered the whole thing and put a little cash in my pocket. Ammo money.

Back then the Glock 19's latest version was the 3rd generation. It cost ~$550. I walked into the same store today and they only had 4th and 5th gens. (I just learned this last week that 5th gen is even a thing). The 4th costs a couple-hundred more than the one I bought back then.

Online I found gen 3's. Some as low as ~$460, new, and that's just the one site I checked.

When I left the country I asked my brother if he wanted to keep the guns. He didn't, so I sold them. I wouldn't mind getting another 1911 eventually, but I could also do without. What I miss is the G19. Cheap ammo, too, to unrust and improve even with a peasant's wage.

In a couple months maybe I'll return one back into my hands.
