I Have Random Thoughts

I have come to the conclusion that a person could learn how to do almost anything by watching youtube videos. I feel a little hypocritical saying that because I'm always preaching to my kids that they are missing out on human interaction by doing so much online. I tell them about the days when you had to drive to the bank to do your banking, drive to the store to purchase something, etc. I am a baker and when I wanted to learn a new technique or master something new altogether, I had to find a class somewhere in my area where I could be taught every last detail. In recent months I've learned that I can find literally hundreds of videos showing step by step how to do anything! I would never have to attend another class ever I suppose. It's difficult to argue my case to my kids when I can stay in my comfortable home and learn for free. Incidentally, I've also learned, through youtube videos, how a person can apply makeup to look 10 years younger, how to organize a closet you'd be proud to post on pinterest and how essential oils can apparently change one's life.

I have done some youtube videos showing how to repair mechanical things. It's annoying when people post that it didn't work and it's because they couldn't follow the simple instructions.

Just remember, a lot of people have posted videos showing incorrect/dangerous or just plain wrong ways to do something. Especially with repair videos. Watch several before you commit to one procedure. Always take safety precautions.

You can learn how to build a deck, work on a car, repair a computer, or grow bigger body parts. Anything you want is at your fingertips. But we miss human interaction when everyone's head is locked on a phone screen.
