I Have Random Thoughts

Taking photos used to be a wonderful thing, it used to require effort and imagination. Today it has become nothing more than a repetitive obsession causing this once great art form to lose its very luster. The age of convenience and self absorption has turned society into a dystopian nightmare, a vapid hole of meaningless repetition which is now basically done only to inflate the egos of substance less creatures devoid of soul.

To exist in a world of human robotic drones obsessed with endless self portraits has given new meaning to the word narcisstic. People exist today in the act of repetitive self gratification, emptying themselves out until nothing is left but plastic hollow promises and images of phony smiles. To exist in an illusionary bubble where every single person is basically a carbon copy of the other has taken us backwards as a society. This is the new age of regressivism. Not only has meaningful creativity been stifled but it has been forgotten and put away like an old photograph lost in a box. Covered up and to never be taken out or looked upon again. Welcome to the new world "order,"a world of chaos devoid of substance and meaning.

Although I can completely relate to where you're coming from and I do feel that we are oversaturated with social media and the compulsion to be narcissistic. However it's not as bleak as you may think I work with high schoolers and a public high school every day and everyday they amaze me and impressed me with their developing minds and their growing hearts in spite of us they're a wonderful group and I remain hopeful

@cartoromantic I would be hopeful too but I realize today the public school system has become nothing more than a liberal indoctrination laboratory. Teaching has been replaced with indoctrination, liberal marxist propaganda and social engineering.

How can minds grow when they are never taught to use logic, think critically or learn history? Why does everything have to be about hating their country, its traditions and history.

I wish I could share your optimism. But reality tells me the last sixty years of liberal indoctrination has rendered society soulless and useless. Yes, I am pessimistic until I see the parents becoming the vital influence in their kid's lives, not government bureaucrats with a nefarious agenda involving liberal brainwashing.
@cartoromantic I'm seeing the same thing you are. Although the narcissism needle has moved into the red with social media, kids today seem to be thinking for themselves far more than a lot of people of my own generation who let political talk show hosts do the thinking for them.

Indeed a dying art. It's all filtered now.

But I think the cyber social world/networking has created and greatly contributed to self objectification/narcissism. It's in all of us humans to some extent, but this feeds it, don't you think?

The rampant selfie craze has been 'associated with a callous and manipulative way of interacting with other people'.
