I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings
They say you should dance as though no one is watching. And I think this applies to anything we do in life, particularly writing - where the chances of your words ever being felt on a deep level is probably minimal, but you do it anyway, if only for yourself (and perhaps the outside chance that somebody will recognise the intention behind it all).
I used to lament the fact that not many people seem to use these kind of websites for a sincere and genuine reason; most things on here seem to appeal to a very specific type of outcome/expectation, one that's basically geared towards alleviating boredom - a way of just passing time and doing whatever for whatever reason. We can be as frivolous and thoughtless as we like on these kind of sites, and I guess if there's an opportunity for such a thing people will invariably rush towards it (not that there's anything wrong with it).
We have the gift of being able to write things that nobody else can, and we have the ability to arrange and manipulate words in a myriad of complex ways. This is something I not only value as a creative individual, but every time I think about it I literally want to jump at the opportunity to make the most of it and to explore it as fully and completely as I can.
As long as I continue to do what I do, and as long as I continue to write as sincerely and thoughtfully as I possibly can, I'll always have the peace of mind in knowing that I'm doing all that I can, and not just wasting my time for wasting time's sake.
It's true that we shouldn't take life too seriously, but at the very least we should want to explore the tools that we have at our disposal and do our absolute best to convey things that are worth a damn - things that can make a person think and feel (and reflect).
