@BittersweetPotato Just to note, maybe you aren't holding it upside down... for Canada?

In America the circle hole is at the bottom, but in @SimplyMeChantou pic the circle hole is at the top. Interesting 🤔
@Viper might have been badly installed cause in my home its all at the bottom lol the pic I took at work

@Viper What do you mean I am not holding it upside down for canada?

@BittersweetPotato In all the outlets I've seen, the circle part goes at the bottom.

Except this picture, where the circle part is at the top.

@Viper Ah maybe I was holding it upside down, since I was not really concerned about the round plug anyway

@BittersweetPotato but in America, because one can be bigger than the other, the bigger one will not go in the smaller hole, so you have to make sure everything is turned the correct direction.

That being said, your outlet (when turned with the circle down), the left one looks like it's thicker

@Viper no all of them are the same size but maybe because i was in a moving car the picture was not clear.

@BittersweetPotato Maybe, but that right one does look thinner in the picture, though not nessarily taller.

But yes, I talked with someone that knows that I do, and as others have already said here, it's called polarize plugs, when that one is bigger than the other.

And I guess American houses were set up for 120 voltage, while Europe started later and learned from American errors and started with the 220 voltage, which is not 230 voltage.

Also, apparently, American households are often getting 240 voltage, but it's then split into two 120 voltages for the appliances, because it would be too costly for change.

I guess in the 1950s America considered changing it, but didn't.
