Save for education, Yearly birthday party, toys and games, mutual fund that he can claim, trips etc etc.. Plan for the joy of your life. It's a blessing remember that in ups and downs.

Oh, you'll need to plan a LOT further ahead than that. But it won't matter; things will still be disrupted.

What you DO need to do is sign up for a long-term email account, and back everything up there: send it baby pictures, cute stories, all that good stuff. Then, on when he turns eighteen, give him the password.
You mean 18 years ahead. Then it will be time to redo the house after the kid destroys it. :)
Kids are fun though, they can do anything and it's fine.
