Wrong or right?

There was an article on FB about HS students here down in Ft Myers who did a walk out protest and many of them got 2 weeks suspensions, now i just thought to myself if my son had done that what would i have done? Nothing cause just like any of those students he has freedom of speech and can participate in any peaceful protest he wishes if he wants to. Do you think the students were right or wrong and what would u do if it was your son/daughter? IMO i dont see a problem but the suspension was a bit fucking rediculous.

The students were right and justified to walk out and have a peaceful protest. There was no reason at all for them to be suspended. That makes no sense and wasn't appropriate for them.

If it were my kids doing that, I would commend and praise them for standing up for what's right and peacefully protesting 👏

It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. Students must abide by School rules. If parents don't like the rule, they need to lobby the school board to change it.

The students' alternative: protest outside school hours, in public. That way their freedom of speech is protect and will not interfere in other students desire to learn.

Who am I to judge? In my high school days we had a walk out protest against the first gulf war. 60 some odd students (over 20% of my class) got three day suspensions for it, but we did what we thought was right 🤷‍♂

It called freedom of speech. The school board was ham handed. Those students will soon be voters. They won't forget.

I fully agree with the suspension. Students have no business walking out during class. Protest after school all you want. Discipline has to be maintained.
