Help me understand...

Why I keep seeing people say:

"Caught out"

Instead of

"Called out" ???

It's ...Called out.

Not caught out.

How does that even make sense?

Caught out means: someone caught you out when you were not supposed to be out.

Called out means someone called you on your bullshit.

Right?

Right.

I was curious, so I looked it up.The term’s in the dictionary now. The thing about slang is, it’s constantly being updated and rebranded. To “catch someone out” isn’t quite the same as calling someone out, but it has a couple of similar meanings.

Don’t get me started on “I could care less”.

@Harmonium1923 It means I could literally care much less than I already do.....therefore not at all. 🤣
@JaggedLittlePill No, it means there’s still room for you to care, at least a little. “I couldn’t care less means you couldn’t possibly care any less than you do…which is not at all. 😉
This post is a proper call out 👍

@Harmonium1923 Just HOLD ON a minute here...we do not use both in the same sentence. This is egregious behavior so early in the morning!

@JaggedLittlePill I’m both gregarious and egregious. 😉

@Harmonium1923 I reallly muffed up that spelling there....

I didn't have enough coffee. That is my official excuse. 😂

@NudasPriest Nah. This is just a little pet peeve. Nobody be dumb here on my thread!

As Bijou pointed out, there are origins to "caught out" ...which I had never heard before and didn't bother to look for because: laziness.

Recently saw it used and thought I had been wrong all along.... so , of course I had to complain. 🤣
