@JaggedLittlePill Your ancestors went to some effort to separate church and state but it looks like a substantial fraction of the populace wants to undo that, or at least would not object were it to be undone.
The secession separated the US from the British hereditary monarchy which was already largely subject to parliamentary control but now you seem to have elected kings with greater powers than poor old George III ever had,
I do hope that you, and the rest of, will survive the next four years without too much trouble and that US politics settles into a less confrontational style afterwards.
@ninalanyon they can be undone by a next president, IF he doesn't make true on his "you'll never have to vote again because we'll fix it so good, that won't be necessary anymore"...
