If I might share....

This is my very last week of college.

It has taken me 5 years and one course at a time but I am finally going to be a graduate.

I will be graduating Magna Cum Laude...which is something I never in my life thought I would accomplish.

I did. I did that.

And honestly...I feel proud and as if I should be excited. But no one else in my world seems to give a flying fuck.

Im not looking for excessive praise. Just some excitement with me.

My husband's response this morning was "That's awesome" flippantly while he turned his back and went about his business.

I don't feel seen. Ever.

You are my people.

You should feel proud. You have a right to relish in the completion of a job well done.

And you have a right to expect your loved ones to join you in celebrating that accomplishment! When my brother and I (we're twins) completed our bachelors degrees, our whole family gathered and celebrated with us.

I'm sorry this is not your experience with your husband. So sad. For you. For him. For everyone. 😔

That's a big deal and you should be proud of how hard you worked to get it .

Well Done!

You are right to be proud of what you have accomplished!

You can breath easier now that you know what you have done and can do.

Enjoy the moment for yourself - I can relate, and I get the feeling that many here at SW can as well...partly why we're here...🤗

As a late bloomer myself I understand your sense of accomplishment. I also understand the lack of enthusiasm from others of our age. It’s like “We’ll, you should have done this years ago”. Not everyone’s path is the same but celebrate anyway!

That's brilliant. Graduation I mean, not your husband's lukewarm reaction.

Will there be a graduation ceremony? Invite someone who cares and have a party or at least a celebratory cake, coffee, drink or whatever goes with such occasions for you. Leave the boring people behind.

We see you.

That is quite an accomplishment, and you deserve to brag a little.

I am a college professor, and I can appreciate how rare a student like you is.

Congratulations! Please do something shamelessly self-indulgent to celebrate!

As I said in my other post, congratulations! Not only for graduating but for doing it Magna Cum Laude. I can't understand why the people in your world can't be excited for you. :(
That is FAN-FnKEN-TAS-TIC!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!

BRAVA! BRAVA!
Woohoo JLP! That is one hell of an accomplishment and you should be proud! Hell, I'm excited for you. Congratulations 👏 ❤

Well I’m pretty excited for you, dammit! I remember when you were just getting started—just thinking about, in fact. It has been a long journey during a really difficult time in the world generally and for you personally. You have a lot to be proud of and I’m proud of you!

Send me a picture of that diploma when you get it!
Congratulations to you ! 🏆🥇
