For some reason, it was not possible to reply to your question on difference between seltzer and tonic. They may look the same but selter is carbonated water and tonic has a taste and contains quinine. Some people drink it as is. I enjoy Campari and tonic in the summer with lime as well as G &T.
Interesting fact: if you ever get leg cramps, drinking tonic will relieve it.

Used to like drinking a dry, gin martini after work, then kind of lost the taste for them. Then I had one recently...meh 😕

Gatsby and I, both men of the world and men about town, enjoy a martini. I do prefer more than a whiff of vermouth and find that The Botanist gin is the best.
A vodka martini is heretical.

I tried a James Bond martini, shaken not stirred. It did not taste very good. It is something that has to be acquired for the palette

Nah...go smooth vodka and it's like drinking cold spring water. Your bartender has to know what he's doing.

Alcohol is definitely an acquired taste, especially the more bitter spirits like those used in martinis.

When I was a barrender I got so many compliments on my martinis. Twice I tried them and they were terrible.
