That's a policy position, not a reason to dishonor fallen veterans.
I don't disagree with it having been a poor choice, but historically speaking, it helped the Asian Tigers (Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan) grow during a period of vulnerability, leading to much greater freedom. In fact, good historians will tell you the communist world really expended itself there... so historically it's looking better than it did in 1975.
But you didn't consider that did you? You spout out talking points as if they actually have anything to do with anything.
