A very pressing matter

Vegans and vegetarians don't eat or like meat.

They want plant based diets.

Yet, they call their food by meat names.

"Oh, look at this steak (mushroom) I cooked ...doesn't it look like a steak?"

Why does it need to look like meat.. don't you dislike meat?

🤣😂

Merriam-Webster defines "steak" as a slice of some food, but we're conditioned to expect it to mean "meat".

I'm not from the South, but my great grandma was, and "chicken fried steak" always confused me as a kid.

@Northwest Well...there you go! 🤣

Yes country fried steak and chicken fried steak never made sense to me but i liked it and it was meat so....🤣

@JaggedLittlePill That may have been the beginning of my meat aversion. Seeing all that fried chicken steak, smothered in gravy, nauseated me. Like literally. Apologies to chicken steak, or gravy lovers. I never recovered. I don't eat meat. Not crazy about portobello steaks, but I like other types of mushrooms, and love Salmon/Halibut steaks - grilled, of course 🤣
